Yemen is in the grip of a crisis of human rights. The most severe cholera epidemic in history has killed thousands and left many more sick and hunger strikes are continuing throughout the country, as people peacefully protest their oppression government forces , who are accused of carrying out unrestrained bombings against rebel-held areas , with no respect for civilian lives or infrastructure targets alike.
Yemen is home to 16 million in constant hunger. The health system in Yemen is in fact broken due to seven years of war. Without any other options other than at home, living or dead COVID19 patients are starving away because medical professionals don’t have access within their communities; too busy fighting one another rather than making a point of saving lives.
The country’s declining conditions have created an ideal environment to facilitate HIV transmission. 4 million people live in poverty and have no permanent residence and are unable to eat as food prices continue to increase while wages remain low. The country is not able to make enough money available for basic necessities like access to clean water and healthcare. This is why it will be extremely difficult to stop this pandemic without assistance from overseas. We must, however, to act swiftly before it’s too to late.
The Yemenite people are fighting the spreading of Cholera for quite some time now, but they are not entirely safe but. There could be some hope through international organizations like Save The Children America and World Vision UK supporting them through COVID-19.
What Welfare Trusts can be used to assist Yemenis
In the midst of massive suffering the welfare trusts have helped millions with lifesaving food and water. They offer a COVID-19-specific hygiene kit to protect against infection, which has already killed many Yemenis.
Welfare trusts in Yemen have worked tirelessly for the benefit of Yemen’s vulnerable population for the past many years. They are able to provide humanitarian assistance in the most dire situations like when they are unable reach their destinations due to conflicts. This is the reason the international organizations like them are vital.
It’s a tough time for many people, and we are grateful that there is assistance available to those in need.
